Office Relocation IT Checklist for Dubai Businesses
BY CERUS ENGINEERING TEAM · 30 SEPTEMBER 2026 · 6 min read
Moving office is one of the most disruptive events for any business. Planning the IT side early is the difference between a team that is productive on day one and a week of lost work. Use this checklist to plan your move.
8–12 weeks before the move
Start early — some services take time to arrange.
- Order the internet connection for the new office and confirm the installation date.
- Visit the new site to plan network points, Wi-Fi, server or rack location, printers and meeting rooms.
- Check whether existing cabling can be reused or needs to be replaced.
- Review which equipment will move and which will be replaced.
4–6 weeks before
- Install structured cabling, the network rack and Wi-Fi access points.
- Plan phone system changes and number transfers.
- Arrange CCTV and access control for the new premises.
- Update your IT documentation with the new network design.
1–2 weeks before
- Take full, verified backups of servers and critical data.
- Label every computer, cable and device before disconnection.
- Configure firewall, network switches and Wi-Fi at the new site.
- Test the internet connection at the new office.
Moving day
Most relocations are done after working hours or over a weekend to minimise disruption. Equipment is disconnected, moved, reinstalled and tested, so the office is ready before staff arrive.
Day one and after
- Have engineers on-site on the first working day to fix any issues quickly.
- Check every desk, printer, phone and meeting room.
- Update addresses on email signatures, website and business listings.
- Safely dispose of or wipe old equipment that is no longer needed.
Frequently asked questions
How long does an IT office relocation take?
It depends on the size of the office, but most of the work happens in the weeks before the move, so the physical move itself can often be completed over a weekend.
Can our team work normally during the move?
Yes. With good planning, most businesses experience little or no downtime.
Do you handle internet, phones and cabling together?
Yes. One partner coordinates cabling, network, phones, computers and internet so nothing is missed.
